Tennis Racquet Grip Selection
Good maneuverability of the tennis racquets depends on the proper grip size. The sizes that are available on the market are the following:
L0 : junior
L1, 4 1/8 : junior or women with short fingers
L2, 4 1/4 : usually fits to most women with a “normal” palm (Distance between the tip of the middle finger and the base of the palm is 16-17 cm)
L3, 4 3/8 : usually fits to most men with a “normal” palm (Distance between the tip of the middle finger and the base of the palm is 17.5 -18.5 cm)
L4, 4 1/2 : usually fits to men with a big palm or long fingers (Distance between the tip of the middle finger and the base of the palm is 19-20 cm)
If you're between 2 grip sizes, go with the smaller size and add an overgrip to arrive at the ideal fit. A typical overgrip will increase a grip by 1/16 inch and add around 10gr to its total weight.
A good rule of thumb is that when you grip the handle (as seen in the photo) the distance between the fingers and the palm should be equal to the thickness of the index finger. e-tennis
